SharkPro Insite™ for Microsoft Project

Version 2.0  January 2013

ACCESS CRITICAL SHAREPOINT DATA RIGHT IN PROJECT

SharkPro Insite™ is an app for Project that enables project managers and information workers (accidental PM’s or team members) using Microsoft Project 2013 to connect with their Office365 or company SharePoint project site to view/edit/add Risks, Issues, and Documents.  With SharkPro Insite™ you can directly access SharePoint project and Project Server artifacts and corresponding items from within Microsoft Project 2013.

PREREQUISITS

SharkPro Insite™ requires Microsoft Project 2013 on the desktop computer and connectivity to a SharePoint 2013 environment via Office365 or your organization’s SharePoint 2013 environment. For standard SharePoint features (Issues and Documents), the project needs to be synched to a SharePoint site and the user needs to have at least viewer permissions to that SharePoint site. In addition, the Issue Tracking app needs to be added to the SharePoint site. For use with Microsoft Project Online or Project Server 2013 on-premise, you need a minimum of view permissions to the Project Site that contains the SharePoint items (Issues, Risks, Documents) you would like to view and the projects must use the SharePoint Task List template.

NEW IN THIS RELEASE

We have fixed some authorization issues and added new features for filtering, creating new items, and support for enterprise projects:

  • New Sign Out button to reset authorization for users with multiple accounts
  • Enterprise Projects Authorization and support
  • Filtering of items by related task
  • New items creation and deletion
  • Linking objects in from within SharkPro Insite
  • Rich Text fields support

COLLABORATE ON PROJECTS VIA OFFICE 365 OR SHAREPOINT 2013

If you are using Microsoft Project 2013 with Office365 or your organization’s SharePoint 2013 environment, you can use SharkPro SharePoint Insite to provide a comprehensive view of project data in your SharePoint sites. Issues and documents are displayed within Project in context with their project schedules. You should keep your Microsoft Project schedules synched to a SharePoint site using the File - Save As - Synch With SharePoint - Synch with SharePoint Tasks List command in Project 2013. The Issue Tracking app should also be added to this SharePoint site. Once Issues or Documents are created on the site, you can view and edit them directly in Project 2013 using SharkPro Insite.

VIEW PROJECT ONLINE OR PROJECT SERVER 2013 DATA FROM WITHIN PROJECT

You may be a Microsoft Project 2013 user of Project Online or Project Server 2013 on-premise that wants visibility to Issues, Risks and Documents on the Project Sites for your published projects. Create your project and publish it from PWA. Note that the Risk list is available only for projects that have been created via PWA.  Once Issues, Risks or Documents are created, you can view these directly in Project 2013 using SharkPro Insite for Project.
